Okay, moms, here comes our big day... Mother's Day! When my kids were younger I would be filled with anticipation of what this wonderful day would hold. I had such high expectations for my special day. I'm not sure what exactly I wanted to happen, but it should probably resemble a Hallmark commercial or a sappy made for tv movie. No pressure there... for my kids, my husband, or myself!

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day. Mine was nice... I got the cute hand-made gifts from the kids and a couple cards. We went out to eat on Saturday, and spent Sunday dividing our time between my family and my husband's family. It was good.

There is a saying in the military, “Without me, my rifle is nothing. Without my rifle, I am nothing.” I believe the same is true of motherhood. Without my mother, I would be nothing. Without my children, I wouldn’t be a mother.

The Savannah-Chatham County Court Appointed Special Advocates Program (CASA) held its annual Mother's Day luncheon at the Chatham Club in the DeSoto Hilton Hotel Thursday afternoon.

CASA recruits and trains volunteers from everyday walks of life to provide individual advocacy for innocent children who might otherwise become “lost” in the system. Learn more about CASA here.
