On Food: Martha Nesbit celebrates Savannah's table

One midday in September during my early days as a food writer, I
drove out to Isle of Hope for an interview with Martha Giddens Nesbit, a
woman whose name was practically synonymous with Savannah cooking after
two landmark cookbooks and nearly two decades as a food and lifestyle
writer for this paper.

We had done interviews before, but on those
occasions, she was the journalist. This time, the tables were turned
and the notebook was in my hand.

After years of rumors and speculation about a water park being built in Chatham County, the permits are granted, the principals have finalized the deals, and the groundbreaking is set for this week.

Pirates Cove Water Park is slated to be open for business by next summer at the intersection of Interstate 95 and Ga. 204.

"This project has a lot of 'wow' factor associated with it," said Robert Welch, lead consultant and park general manager. "The investment has doubled to $12.5 million since the initial concept was presented, and the first phase is under way."

RATTLED: Son's transitions bring joy, mom's not so much

by Christine Fulle... on Mon, 06/28/2010 - 7:38am

Elliot is now just north of 6 months old. He loves cauliflower, bouncing and boasts a one-word vocabulary. (He said “mama” on Father’s Day.)
The transitions in his life bring me more joy than a truckload of spinach dip. It’s the transitions in my own life that have me twitching.
