VIDEO: Exercise and pregnancy

by Coastal Mommies... on Tue, 12/28/2010 - 9:57am

Even though pregnant women may not be able to see them, they're still there! We're talking about the legs. And we can't neglect them during the nine months of pregnancy.

Squats and plies with the stability ball are not only a great way to challenge those quadriceps muscles, but these exercises also open the pelvic outlet to prepare for labor.

Caution: Safety first. Women should always get medical clearance from their doctors before beginning or continuing any workout program during pregnancy.

Over 2 million cribs recalled amid safety concerns

by Coastal Mommies... on Thu, 06/24/2010 - 7:48am

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON — More than 2 million cribs from seven companies were recalled Thursday amid concerns that babies can suffocate, become trapped or fall from the cribs.

Most of the cribs were drop-sides, which have a side rail that moves up and down so parents can lift children from them more easily. That movable side, however, can malfunction or detach from the crib, creating a dangerous gap where babies' heads can become trapped, leading to suffocation or strangulation.

Babies at Church

by Traci S on Mon, 06/21/2010 - 10:54am

Babies really complicate life. As sweet as they can be, these tiny people have big accessories and inflexible demands (feed me, now!). They can even make going to church on Sunday morning a challenge. See, there's the nap thing... my 13-month-old naps at 10:00 and 2:00 for the most part, and our church service is at 10:00, of course! I have talked with many moms who lament their baby's fussiness at church due to the missed morning nap.
