Bible study helps moms, kids set up building blocks of faith

Two-year-old Caroline Durkin followed her mother up the church's stairs and saw on the second floor a portrait of a familiar face.

"Who's that, Mommy?" she asked.

"That's Jesus," Katherine Durkin said.

"Jesus," Caroline repeated and then broke into song. "Jesus loves me, this I know..."

Caroline may be too young to grasp some concepts of religion. But her mother hopes she can drop in little lessons here and there that start building a foundation of Christian faith.

Mommy Guilt

At church on Sunday I was talking with a group of moms and discovered we all suffer from Mommy Guilt at times. Perhaps you know the Mommy Guilt drill - you're a "bad mom" because you feel like: you're always yelling, dinner wasn't healthy enough, you haven't spent enough quality time with your kids, you really just want some "me" time, etc. We judge ourselves by every failure or shortfall, often dismissing the things we get right because "that's how it's supposed to be anyway."
