Reason #37 for being late: Cat on the rooftop

With five people in our family, three of whom have little or no sense of urgency (except when they want something), it seems we are often running late for one reason or another. Our church starts at 10:00, for example, every Sunday. Knowing that it takes 20 minutes to get there, one would think we could arrive on time or early (gasp!) at least maybe half the time. But, as I said, there is always something that comes up... whether it's someone on the potty, a last minute search for shoes, or a dog having an accident.

The value of one-on-one time with the kids

This past weekend my husband and daughter went on a Girl Scouts Father-Daughter camp-out. It was a bit unusual for our family to split up like that, but it turned out to be a pleasant treat as I spent time with the two boys and my husband and daughter had their fun time together.

Teaching time management to my 7-year-old

I am realizing that I need to work on time management skills with my 7-year-old daughter. The problem is not that she has too much homework, but that she is such a perfectionist about it that it takes her forever!

Sometimes I feel like the little mouse running around on the wheel in its cage... going nowhere fast.

Today the kids and I got home from music lessons just before 6:00. I scanned the fridge and decided on leftovers for dinner – quick and easy. I pulled out the leftovers.

If I had all the time in the world, I imagine I would be a much better mom. No time constraints, deadlines, and rushing out the door. Thus, no fussing, pleading, and hurrying to get my troupe moving on time.

I could linger contentedly while my toddler watches the ants on the sidewalk – no need to swoop him up and put him in the van to get my other two children to school on time.

Crunchy Momma

There is no doubt in my mind that you are a woman who wears many, many hats.  I’m quite sure that at some point in your day you perhaps misplace one or two of these caps and even forget which one you are wearing at times.  It is not at all surprising that when the clock starts ticking you start moving and you don’t stop much at all until your weary heads rests itself for a good night’s sleep.  Does this at all sound familiar?
