'Summer Fun Day'

Fun here or fun there? A mommy's dilemma

by Traci Schumacher on Wed, 06/01/2011 - 1:47pm

There's nothing better than fun, free activities to engage the kiddos... like story time at the library. This week I had planned to take my two boys (ages 5 and 2) to story time for some wholesome entertainment and a chance to get out of the house.

So it was almost time to go, and – wouldn't you know? - my boys were playing trains so nicely together that I felt bad for making them quit.

The gap between good intentions and real life

by Traci Schumacher on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 1:40pm

For the most part, I think moms are a creative, resourceful bunch. We have to be. Someone has to find a way to amuse the little ones on a rainy day, or make the long wait in the doctor's office entertaining, or get the siblings to cooperate with each other (yeah, ok, I'm still working on that one).

Periodically I have a burst of inspiration... some great new idea for a fun activity or a better way of doing something or whatever. Sadly, I find myself long on ideas and a bit short on follow-through.
