Backyard camping on a warm night in Georgia

by Traci Schumacher on Sat, 10/19/2013 - 8:25pm

Once upon a time, on a day just like yesterday, there were four children who decided to sleep in the tent in the backyard. They were incredibly excited for this novel adventure, preparing their sleeping spots in the tent as soon as permission was granted.

Here are some pretty cool things to do this weekend...

Savannah's Veterans' Day parade downtown on Saturday will start at 10:15, beginning at Abercorn St and Gwinnett St. You may want to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 to get a good spot. Day trip: running away to the mountains for a day

by Traci Schumacher on Tue, 10/16/2012 - 9:11am

I love autumn... the brisk, refreshing air, the leaves changing colors, the first sweatshirt of the season! Oh, wait... I live in Savannah where it was in the 80's yesterday. Again. While there are some perks to such a mild climate, at times I long for the true change of seasons.

by Traci Schumacher on Thu, 06/21/2012 - 9:42am

As I was clicking around online I came across a list of summer activities “to entertain” the kids, and it made me stop and think. Just how much entertaining do our kids require?

by Traci Schumacher on Wed, 06/13/2012 - 4:03pm

It's summertime! And just what are we going to do with the kids? If you're like me, you brainstorm a variety of activities to keep the little ones busy and amused. Fun things, easy things, educational things, active things. Summer camps, crafts, day trips. The list can go on and on.

Great Christmas Lights Display - and a Bit of History - Just Up The Road in Charleston, SC

by Traci Schumacher on Mon, 11/29/2010 - 2:09pm

Every year my husband and I try to take the family to Charleston to see the Festival of Lights at James Island County Park. Because it takes around two hours to get there, we like to plan an afternoon activity to do first, and then head over to the amazing light display/activities.

Tree Tots Beat the Heat - a COOL activity in Savannah

Tree Tots Beat the Heat - a COOL activity in Savannah

"You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be--
I had a Mother who read to me"
--Strickland Gillilan.

The libraries of Savannah are a great place to bring small children. Not only will the a/c keep you cool in this scorching heat wave, but your little ones will have the wonderful opportunity to walk the aisles of brightly covered books, learning about the world of imagination, knowledge and fun in the shelves.
