Spring Break is right around the corner

by The Coastal Mommie on Tue, 03/24/2009 - 2:51pm

This past Sunday my family attended Kids Day at the Civic Center! Blue Skies!

Aren't you always impressed at the number of attendees at this Annual Event? There are always alot of fun activities for the kids to do and useful info for parents. Most importantly organizations that cater to our children pass out fliers announcing their upcoming events! This helps me lists the events that will entertain my hobbies while encouraging me to spend time with my family.

Here are some family day out ideas that my family will be participating in

Meal Planning Monday

by MamaPowers on Mon, 03/23/2009 - 10:45am

For the last two months we've been cooking on a hot plate on the back porch.

And eating at restaurants.

My home-renovating husband just put the stove and refridgerator back in the kitchen. It's wonderful to be part of civilization again!

And I'm looking forward to saving some money with real home-cooked meals.

So now I'm trying to get in the habit of planning our meals a week in advance. I'm naturally a spontanious type person. So all this planning is a bit of a change.

Moms Going Green "Save the Earth for your Children"

by The Coastal Mommie on Sun, 03/22/2009 - 10:52am

Let me start of by saying, I feel like a total hypocrite as I write this....................

Your baby will need approx. 6,000 disposable diapers in his/her 2 1/2 year "Diaper Period".

I've never heard any horror stories about cloth diapers, I just don't know anyone who uses them!

Ask yourself, do you know any cloth diapered babies, under the age of 20????

Toddlers & Tiaras

by Amanda Granger on Sat, 03/14/2009 - 6:30pm

What in the world??

Some moms just need to stop and think.

I'm watching Toddlers & Tiaras on TLC. It profiles little girls who are in pageants. Let me say that some of these moms are out of control.

There's a 2 year old getting tanned, another girl that's a little older getting hair extensions, full makeup and more. They claim their daughters love it. I doubt it. The dresses are terribly expensive. What exactly is the point?

Can someone help me understand?

And So It Begins

My 10 year old son came in this evening from a long afternoon playing with the neighborhood kids and began a very interesting conversation with me about crushes.

Family Visit

by Amanda Granger on Thu, 03/05/2009 - 3:57pm

It's that time again.

Time for the family to come visit. I'm just wondering what we can do. What can I show them?

How are the paid tours? Are they worth taking?

Upward Basketball

by Amanda Granger on Thu, 03/05/2009 - 1:27pm

I have to admit I wasn't too sure it would work out.

My 6-year-old daughter started out as the first little girl on an all boys baskeball ball team. But the boys were so nice to her and they practiced well together.

Then one week before their first game, another girl joined the team. So, it all worked out.

I was worried for nothing - as usual.

They boys (and the girls) could care less. They just wanted to play basketball.

What to do this weekend

by MamaPowers on Thu, 03/05/2009 - 1:08pm

I'm a lucky mama: my son likes broccoli and collard greens. The broccoli he likes to dip in "Arkan-sauce" (ranch) like his daddy. The collard greens he likes boiled down with a piece of salty ham.

Collard-loving family that we are, we are planning on attending this year's Collard Green festival outside Port Wentworth, GA.
