Egghead? Really?

Do you have young writer in your family? Live Oak Public Libraries is now accepting entries for the 2009 Young Writers Contest. The theme is Johnny Mercer.

The poem may be in any format, e.g. haiku, sonnet, acrostic, ballad,
cinquain, quatrain, etc., including free form verse. Maximum length is
20 lines; longer poems will be disqualified. There is no minimum
length. Poems will be judged on creativity and clever use of the
required words.

Students are encouraged to use the following words fromMercer songs:

For most new moms, and mothers who suddenly realize their children need more physical activity, it's nice to have fresh  ideas on ways to get the kids moving.

At yesterday's YMCA Kiddie Run, dozens of children in their free YMCA t-shirts took to the street in a sprint of friendly competition.

From babes in the arms of athletic parents, to pre-teens at the head of the pack, the children experienced not only the heart-strengthening rush of a good run, but also comraderie and positive association with exercise.

La Leche League of Savannah held a free family picnic and carnival on September 13th in Hull Park for World Breastfeeding Week. Kid activities, a silent auction, and a raffle offered fun for the whole family.

Savannah Midwife Group and Birth Center

The Savannah Midwife Group hosted the American Association of Birth Centers annual conference September 3-6, 2009.

This years theme was “Change in Childbirth: Hope for a New Generation”.

Parents of children born at the Birth Center in Savannah gathered for a reunion Sept. 3rd at the Savannah DeSoto Hilton Hotel.
