Proud to be Affiliated

Several months ago, I was called to a friend’s home immediately after the passing of his beloved wife. After visiting for an hour or so with the family, I noticed that the deceased’s little Maltese was limping. When I questioned the sister of my friend, I was told that she was being taken care of and that the family had been very surprised that the Hospice caretaker had taken an interest in Angel and had offered veterinary care as a service to the family. I was not surprised as I am very familiar with the program through our veterinary hospital. I was very pleased however to see the program being used in the manner it was intended and, I felt proud to be affiliated with such a program. Little Angel never left my friend’s side during her last few months and the Hospice personnel recognized that she was essential to bringing some comfort to her owner’s life at the end. The family had been concentrating on giving my friend everything she needed and Angel had taken a little of a backseat. How wonderful that Hospice, through their Pets Peace of Mind Program, can offer help to the four-legged family members when the sick family member has so many needs to cater to.
On Thursday, September 12th, Case Veterinary Hospital and Photos by Becky are having an Open House. Although this is a NuBarter event, we welcome anyone who would like to come by to see our remodeled reception area and a photo gallery of pets and their “people” done by Becky Smith, a local photographer. There will be hou d oeuvres and wine as well as a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from the raffle and a Silent Auction will benefit this wonderful Hospice Program. Please join us as we raise awareness about the program and spend a few hours or so talking about our favorite topic, pets!
