Surprise birthday present from my 6-year-old
When I woke up on my birthday this year, I was quickly greeted by my 6-year-old son. He told me not to come out of my room yet because he was going to make my birthday present. So I proceeded to the shower.
Before I finished, he called in to me that I could come out of my room. I told him I'd be out when I was dressed and he said okay. Imagining he had made me a cute craft or picture of some sort, I took my time as I finished my shower, got dressed, and put on some make-up.
I walked to the living room and my son announced, very pleased with himself, that my present was on the kitchen table. And that's when I saw it. My very thoughtful boy had made me breakfast.
There on the table was a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and a tall glass of ice water. Unfortunately, my son had poured the milk on the cereal while I was still in the shower, and so it had been sitting there soaking in the milk while I casually had gotten myself ready for the day.
It was certainly the soggiest cereal I've ever eaten. It was also the best.
