Guyton’s flag day celebration and ice cream social is planned for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday on the walking trail across from city hall.

The Guyton Historic Preservation Commission will provide homemade and store-bought ice cream for free, said Pearl Boynes, chairman of the commission.

She said the group held its first ice cream social last year.

“Everyone is invited,” she said. The event was popular with area children last year, she said.
