Travel the world without leaving your hometown

Have you ever thought about moving to another part of the world? Europe, South America or Africa?

Many of us daydream about crisscrossing the globe to experience new foods, see ancient ruins and learn foreign languages. Now is the time to start your new adventure! Ayusa,a global youth exchange organization, is active in the Greater Savannah Area and looking for host families for the 2012-2013 school year.

Ayusa is a non-profit organization that promotes global learning and leadership through foreign exchange, study abroad and leadership programs for high school students from around the world. Through this program you can travel the world without leaving your hometown. This fall, students from around the globe will attend area high schools and learn what it really means to be an American.

We are very excited about a special group of students coming from predominately Muslim countries. With the help of the US. Department of State and the YES program, these students will acquire an understanding of American values, the qualities of leadership, and important elements of civil society, including concepts such as civic responsibility and volunteerism.
The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program was created after the tragic events of September 11th by Senators Kennedy and Lugar, and is funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The first year for the program was the 2003-2004 academic year. To date, more than 5000 students have participated. Many of them are engaged in outstanding activities that are a direct result of their American experience. The YES program helps expand communication between the people of the United States and the people of the home countries of the students that participate in this special program. When they return home, YES students work together to share what they have learned and make a difference in their home communities.
If you would like more information about hosting a student, being a mentor or volunteering to be a part of a exchange students experience, we'd love to hear from you!
