Sibling sleepover makes little brother sad

Tonight my 6-year-old son is sleeping at Grandma's house to spend extra time with his cousins who are in town for Thanksgiving. Sounds like fun!

The only trouble is that his 3-year-old little brother, who shares a room with him, is heartbroken for the evening. Nearly an hour and a half after putting him to bed, the little guy is still awake, crying about missing his brother “because I love him,” he said. How sweet is that? He also said he doesn't like sleeping by himself, and next time we should not let his brother take his sleeping bag along... presumably so this kind of thing will not happen again.

I love to see my kids demonstrating their love for each other. It makes this mama's heart glad. Sure there may be squabbles and such throughout the day, but deep down I always trust that they love each other. It's great to have that belief confirmed every now and then.

So, an extra light on in his room, some extra snuggles, and extra prayers and hopefully he will drift off to sleep soon. After a long day like today, I know I'm about ready for some sleep myself.
