The Power of the Written Word

The Power of the Written Word

Dear Lovely Mommie,

Sometimes when things are so easy we tend to look down on their ability to cultivate substantial changes in our lives.  From time-to-time we view simple happenings to not hold the power to make a difference; however, turning your nose up at a simple task will and can turn around to bite you in your sexy bum.

It is completely and utterly amazing what can occur when you begin holding yourself accountable through the power of the written word.  Magnificent things can begin to happen in your life when you record your daily on-goings.  The more you document, the more successful you will be at altering and adjusting your lifestyle.  Here’s how you can encourage journaling on a regular basis in your life:

~Purchase a pretty, appealing notebook/journal to capture your daily events, thoughts and habits.  It truly is amazing when you think about your every day happenings and then write them down to mull over. The power of reflection is great than we can ever imagine.

~Set aside a journal date time each day when you know you will be available to record your daily events.  Be sure to place the journal in a visible, convenient spot to encourage participation.  The last thing you want to do is place your notebook out of sight; the handier the better.

~Choose a peaceful, smoothing area in which to sit, relax and record your daily movements. If your family seems to track you down be creative when seeking a quiet, private writing area and don’t be afraid to lock the door if need be.  The bathroom seems to be a wonderful place to escape to where you can ward off unwanted guests and intruders.

~Don’t expect continuous continuity and be ready to give yourself a break when days get hectic.  You do not have to write in your journal every single day; however, taking the time to record leads to wonderful revelations so do the best you can to find the time as often as possible.  Keep in mind that habits only blossom when they are practiced on a regular basis.

Every day you have to make a conscious decision to take the steps to improve your lifestyle and journaling is an easy, inexpensive way to cultivate that journey.  Be patient and kind with yourself; you can’t possibly change all your habits in one day, week or even an entire month, but you must begin with at least one if you are to reap the benefits of a lighter way of living.  You’re not looking to publish your memoires just dabble in the art of reflection.
