Dear Lovely Mommie,
When it comes to exercise in your life and it happening on a regular basis, the fun factor better be involved for you to continue on your movement journey. If the thought of leaving the house to exercise is not fun then chances are high that it plain will not happen.
Perhaps you’ve tried a handful of exercises or team games away from home and none of them seem to be your cup of tea. Maybe you don’t understand why people say they enjoy exercise because you just don’t get it; nothing you’ve ever participated in seems to wow you or get you motivated to keep you coming back for more. If that’s the case perhaps you should knock on some more movement doors until the right one opens for you and conceivably that door is your door. There are so many choices you can make and experience right in the comfort of your own home. Here’s where to look:
~The game system known as Wii Fit has many activity options to choose from and it allows you to stay in the comfort of your own home. Choose from skiing, yoga and boxing just to name a few; another great attribute to this game system is that it predicts your fitness level, tracks your progress and makes helpful suggestions along the way. Wii Fit can be purchased at any department stores and provides hours of endless exercise fun.
~Activity channels on your television are yet another way to stay home and get the job done. Each cable provider has their own channel numbers that represent their movement options. If this choice floats your boat then why not take a look at the channel guide to find an opportunity that works for you.
~Surf the web. Nowadays you can Google any topic you like and find articles, diagrams and videos on just about anything. Plug in your computer and hit the play button and there we have it….cyber exercise at your fingertips. Be sure to search YouTube for exercise videos.
~Use what you’ve got. Stairs are a wonderful cardiovascular tool as you travel up and down them; a kid’s swing set provides climbing ropes, swings, bars and monkey bars. How about using gallons of milk as arm and shoulder weights or cans for extra weight when lunging and squatting? Chairs are great for tricep dips and a simple beach towel can offer a clean, soft place to hit the floor for full body strengthening activities and stretching.
