Set the Stage for Weight Loss Success

Dear Lovely Mommie,

I’ve heard many-a-time why women don’t eat breakfast, or won’t eat breakfast.  The universal rule and proven fact is that women who engage in a healthy breakfast are much more likely to have a day filled with wiser, more fulfilling choices.  Bottom line when all is said and done “breakfast is a powerhouse to your day” and although morning after morning some women attempt to convince themselves otherwise, they are not immune to the repercussions of not feeding their body when they arise.

Here are a few reasons that seem to surface on a regular basis as to why not eating breakfast is acceptable “I just don’t have time for breakfast, I don’t feel deprived, I’ll eat later, I don’t need food in the morning.”  Let’s face it, we can justify anything and it is fairly simple to be able to make up excuses for anything you wish to avoid or rationalize.  If you are one of those stunning women who persist in putting yourself into a position later on in the day where good decisions fly out the window faster than you can tie your shoe, then today is your day to heed, alter and redirect your path to one that is beneficial for you, your goals and your future.  Here’s what happens with excuses:

~“I don’t have time:” After a good night’s sleep our body needs energy to jumpstart it’s function level and alertness.  When you do not give it any fuel to operate on in a timely manner it eventually backfires on you and you reach for anything at your finger tips to fuel your hunger and typically your choices tend to be less than desirable to say the least.

~“I don’t feel deprived:” Tracking your day is bound to illuminate areas of weakness and poor pickings due to the fact that food was not provided in a timely manner.  Don’t set yourself up for failure by being neglectful in the beginning hours of your day.

~“I’ll eat later:” and then just like that it is lunch time and you find yourself chomping at the bit to get your hands on anything in sight.

~“Eating early makes me hungry:” Think about that.  Not eating makes you hungry, right?  Eating fills your body with energy and nutrients so that it can perform in a sensible manner.

Being conscious of what you are doing and altering your journey takes persistence and dedication.  Just like any habit that is in full swing it takes time to modify a behavior that has become such a solid part of your life.  Be patient with yourself and take a look at your patterns throughout your day.  Monitor and adjust behaviors that are not supportive of your weight loss goals; make a change for your future.
