But I Don't Want to Exercise!

Dear Lovely Mommie,

We’ve all been there, are there or will eventually wake up one morning to the sounds of one’s self uttering the words “I don’t want to get out of bed and take my spin class or I’m tired of walking outside I’m just not going to do it today.”  Making excuses for why you can’t, why you won’t, how it’s not the right time or place or putting it off until the infamous “tomorrow” doesn’t get you squat except possibly a growing cheeky bum.

There is absolutely no need to go it alone when Ms. Justification is standing by your bed in the morning.  Ms. Pardon does not need to bless you with her plea of “why not” and nor does Ms. Let-You-Off-the-Hook have any say in you not working to your full potential.  The following list of events is suggested to enhance your chances of moving exercise mountains in your day.  By incorporating as many of these tips into your life as possible on a regular basis you are more apt to “just do it.”  Take a look at which ones you practice and which ones you will begin to weave into your daily schedule to promote movement in your continued schedule.

~Lay out your workout attire the night before for; this way when you wake up it will be one of the first things you see to jog your memory and remind you of your goals.

~Don’t take “I can’t, I don’t want to, I don’t have time” as an excuse; your efforts do not commend these types of mutterings.  Stand tall, be strong and overcome their attempts.

~Write in your journal what feelings of accomplishment you reap after your movement and then when the time comes and you are questioning exercise reread your thoughts and feelings.

~Download some new music to inspire your workout choice and provide new beats to get you moving.  Everyone loves a new tune to bop along to.

~Have a pre-set workout date with a friend; that way it will force you to get up, get going and also give you a well-deserved chance to spend time with your buddies.

~Schedule yourself in on your calendar and be sure to keep your appointment with yourself.

~Position a desired outfit near your bed to stir your senses and inspire you to get moving.

So when your alarm clock sounds with the ring of “no working out for me today” shut it off, brush it aside and get up and go.  You know you feel 100% better once your physical activity is under your belt.
