Operation "Surplus Sabotage"

Dear Lovely Mommie,

Ok it’s time to take a serious meander throughout your counter tops, cabinets, fridge and pantries looking for any food and beverages that may be taking up shop in your home as we approach the New Year.  You may very well have not put them there and they probably were positioned in your domain by others, however, it is now time to eliminate all the leftovers from your sight and put the holiday fare behind you.

Enjoying the season’s buffet and tasting all that it has to offer is an experience that comes around the block only a few special times of the year.  The current celebrations in effect are known to many by the names of Christmas, perhaps Hanukkah or even Kwanza.  Whatever the event in your home, each one is ladled with high-calorie, fat-filled dishes, desserts and beverages all for the taking.  So when your exceptional happening has come to a close in your home it is time to do away with all the unique foods and beverages that pose a potential disturbance on your journey to greater health and weight loss.  Why not set into motion the following steps and do not take any reasons to step back from your task:

~From this point on if anybody shares their rich dishes at your front door, send them home with their owner when they leave your establishment.  If your company insists on your keeping the fare put it in the compost pile or garbage can when they leave.  Period!

~Give it all away.  Chances are that everyone under your roof has now had enough foods that are not gracious of a fitting figure or a well-oiled ticking heart.  Pack it up and pass it on to someone that is needy of extra food and desserts.

~Freeze your extras in portion size containers.  Seal your left over dishes in freezer bags and put them away for another time.  They’ll be there for an allotted time span and will maybe come in handy when time slips away from you and be a convenient choice.  Be sure to date the freezer wrappings for knowledgeable freezer life.

~If certain items came into your home and haven’t been utilized perhaps you should consider donating them to the local food bank for people who are less fortunate.  All it takes is a phone call explaining your situation and they’ll be more than happy to take them off your hands.

Putting yourself in a proactive position after the festivities have died down is the right thing to do.  Take control of the situation, put your needs at the top of the pile and chances are your needs will not only benefit you, but everyone around you.  Stand tall, make the decisions that will support your goals and move into 2010 with a healthy, positive outlook that is sure to enhance your new year.
