For moms in Savannah and the Coastal Empire

About Us

Welcome to Coastal Mommies! This is a new kind of community website that joins with the Savannah Morning News in a mission of helping build a stronger community.

With your help, we will work to provide a friendly, safe, easy to use place on the Web for everyone in the community to post news items, create a unified community calendar, and share photos, video, opinions.

This is a place where you can take the lead in telling your own story. As a registered user, you get your own weblog, your own photo gallery, and so much more.

In return, we ask that you meet this character challenge: be a good citizen and exhibit community leadership qualities. It's a simple and golden rule. Act as you would like your neighbors to act.

Anybody can be a leader. You're a leader every day in what you do and what you say -- regardless of whether you want to be a leader. Your words have power.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Lead by example. Demonstrate how you would like others to behave.
  • Every time you post, ask yourself: Am I helping make a better place to live? Am I helping people get to know and understand one another better?
  • Ask follow up questions when someone seems to disagree with you. Maybe they're right. It happens.
  • Ask for help, and accept help. Helping others builds bonds of friendship.
